Transportation Essentials

Register for this free webinar at:

Florida statute requires that: “The charter school and the sponsor shall cooperate in making arrangements that ensure that transportation is not a barrier to equal access for all students residing within a reasonable distance of the charter school…” Keeping students safe while getting them to and from school is essential, and numerous statutes speak to the requirements regarding school transportation. Whether a school acquires their own buses or contracts with an outside agency, the ultimate responsibility for ensuring compliance with transportation requirements falls on the school. This webinar will be presented by Jamie Warrington from the Department of Education’s Transportation Department who will discuss the essential requirements. This webinar will be particularly helpful for schools who are setting up or changing their transportation plans for next year.

Resource Highlights

New School Check List

The new school check list was developed for newly approved charter schools working to open a new school. The document lists the various tasks to be completed from the time the charter application is approved until the day students walk through the door. This resource can help charter schools who are opening in August with things the leadership may not have thought of in preparation for the school’s opening.
